Best window cleaning software and round apps (UK)
Quick answer
For most UK window cleaners, a dedicated round app beats general job software. CleanerPlanner (£19 to £49 a month, GoCardless on Pro) is our pick for clear pricing, and Squeegee is the cheapest start at £15.83 a month plus VAT. ServiceM8 suits small rounds only, because it charges by jobs per month.

Window cleaning is a round business: hundreds of small, regular cleans, paid in cash, by bank transfer or by direct debit. We compared the UK round apps and general job tools on price, round planning, payments and reminders. Prices were checked on 12 October 2026.
What does a window cleaner need from software?
General trade software is built for a few big jobs a day. You might do 30 to 50 small cleans a day. That flips what matters.
Managing rounds and routes
Your round is the business. Software should group customers by street or area, put them in the order you drive, and show you today's list on your phone. When you take on a new customer, it should slot them into the right day without you rebuilding the whole round.
4 and 8 weekly frequencies
Most domestic customers are on a 4 weekly or 8 weekly cycle, with some on 6 or 12 weeks, and commercial work often on a different schedule. A good round app handles any frequency, rolls customers forward when rain stops you working, and keeps their next due date right.
Cash, bank transfer and direct debit
Chasing payments is the biggest admin job in window cleaning. You need to mark cash taken on the doorstep, match bank transfers, and ideally move as many customers as possible to direct debit. GoCardless charges 1% plus 20p per collection, capped at £4, with no monthly fee (source: Whito, prices checked 4 Sep 2026). On a £20 clean, that is 40p.
Notifying customers the day before
A text the evening before ("We'll be cleaning your windows tomorrow, please leave the side gate open") cuts wasted trips and reminds customers that the work was done. Afterwards, an automatic "cleaned today" message with a payment link speeds up payment.
Extra services and commercial work
Many window cleaners add gutter clearing, fascia and soffit cleaning, conservatory roofs and solar panel cleaning. These are quoted one-off jobs with photos, not round work. If they are a big part of your income, you need software that does quotes as well as rounds, or a round app plus a simple quoting tool. Commercial clients (shops, offices, letting agents) usually want monthly invoices to one account rather than payment per clean, so check your app can group visits onto one invoice.
Customer records you can trust
A round is worth money when you sell it, and buyers value a round on its customer list, cycle and payment history. Keeping that data clean in an app, with every customer's price, frequency, last clean date and balance, makes your round easier to value and easier to hand over. A paper book with crossings out is worth less.
UK rule to plan for: Making Tax Digital for Income Tax applies from 6 April 2026 if your qualifying income is over £50,000, from 6 April 2027 over £30,000 and from 6 April 2028 over £20,000. A busy full-time round may pass £30,000, so plan now. Round apps track income, but check whether yours links to MTD-ready accounting software.

Our top picks for window cleaners
Best for most window cleaning rounds
CleanerPlanner
From £19 a month (Pro with GoCardless and SMS £29)
CleanerPlanner is built around round management for window cleaners and other round-based work. Its plans are flat monthly prices rather than per-job charges, and all three plans are published (check any customer limits before you sign up). Pro adds GoCardless direct debit and texts, which is the plan most full-time cleaners will want. The Team plan covers 5 users for £49.
- Flat monthly price
- GoCardless and SMS on Pro
- 30-day free trial
- VAT treatment not stated
- Team plan stops at 5 users

Squeegee is a scheduling, invoicing and payments app aimed at round-based businesses, with four tiers from Core to Infinite. Best for window cleaners who also do other work
ServiceM8
Free for 30 jobs a month, then from £25 a month
If window cleaning is a side line to gutter clearing, conservatory roofs or pressure washing, ServiceM8 handles quotes, photos and one-off jobs much better than a round app. Paid plans include unlimited users. But for a pure round it is the wrong tool on price, because each clean counts as a job.
- Free plan
- Strong quoting and photos for one-off work
- Unlimited users on paid plans
- Expensive for big rounds (Starter includes 100+ texts a month, Growing 300+)
- Recurring jobs is an add-on
Aworka and Joblogic
Aworka is another round app with a generous six-week free trial. We could not read its prices, so ask before you sign up. Joblogic covers round scheduling and route planning, but it is a full field service platform from £45 per user per month billed annually, and most customers sign 24 or 36 month contracts. Its iPhone app had 1.8 from 201 ratings on the UK App Store (checked 12 Oct 2026). It only makes sense for a large commercial window cleaning firm.
We also looked at Round Robin, Round Monster and Roundwiz, but could not confirm their prices or features from their own pages, so we have left them out of the rankings.
What does window cleaning software cost? Two worked examples
Example 1: sole trader with 300 customers on a 4 weekly round
300 customers every 4 weeks is about 325 cleans a month (300 × 13 cycles a year ÷ 12 months).
| Option | Plan | Monthly cost |
|---|---|---|
| Squeegee | Entry tier | From £15.83 plus VAT |
| CleanerPlanner | Pro (GoCardless and SMS) | £29 |
| ServiceM8 | Premium (500 jobs) | £119 |
Direct debit worked example: if 200 of those cleans are paid by GoCardless at £20 each, fees are 40p each, so £80 a month on £4,000 collected. That sounds a lot until you compare it with the hours spent chasing bank transfers and the money lost on customers who never pay.
Example 2: window cleaning business with 5 people and 1,200 customers
1,200 customers on mixed 4 and 8 weekly cycles is roughly 650 to 1,300 cleans a month, depending on the mix.
| Option | Plan | Monthly cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| CleanerPlanner | Team (5 users) | £49 | Flat price |
| Joblogic | Standard, 5 users | £225 | 5 × £45, billed annually; long contracts |
| ServiceM8 | Premium Plus (1,500+ jobs) | £269 | Unlimited users |
Verdict: round apps win on price at every size. ServiceM8 and Joblogic only make sense if a large part of your work is quoted one-off jobs or commercial contracts.
Which features matter most for window cleaners?
Worth paying for
- Round planning by area and day, with easy rain-day rescheduling.
- Direct debit through GoCardless or similar.
- Day-before and "cleaned today" texts.
- Quick cash marking on the doorstep, with a running list of who owes what.
- Multi-user access once you put a second van on the road.
Round app or general job software?
Here is the simple test. If more than about three quarters of your income comes from regular round work, pick a round app: it is cheaper and built for how you work. If you do lots of quoted one-off jobs, a general tool such as ServiceM8 gives you better quotes, photos and job notes, and you accept a higher bill. Some cleaners run both for a while, but two systems means two customer lists, which gets messy quickly.
Usually safe to skip
- Certificates, purchase orders and stock control.
- Full field service platforms with long contracts.
- Detailed timesheets if you work alone.
What mistakes should window cleaners avoid when switching?
- Choosing job-count pricing for a round. Work out your monthly clean count first.
- Losing who owes what. Export balances and customer notes (gate codes, dogs, access) before you leave your old system or paper book.
- Moving direct debits carelessly. Ask how existing mandates move across, or customers may need to sign up again.
- Not telling customers. Warn them that texts and payment requests will come from a new name.
- Running two systems for months. Pick a switch date at the start of a cycle and stick to it.

Our verdict
Most UK window cleaners should start a CleanerPlanner trial and use the Pro plan for GoCardless and texts. If price is everything, try Squeegee from £15.83 a month plus VAT. Choose ServiceM8 only if window cleaning sits alongside lots of quoted one-off work, and leave Joblogic to large commercial firms.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best app for window cleaners in the UK?
We rate CleanerPlanner best for most UK window cleaners because its prices are published, it is built for rounds, and its Pro plan at £29 a month includes GoCardless direct debit and text messages. Squeegee is a strong alternative with a lower starting price of £15.83 a month plus VAT. Both suit 4 and 8 weekly rounds better than general trade software.
Is there a free window cleaning app?
ServiceM8 has a free plan for 1 user and up to 30 jobs a month, which only covers a very small round because every clean counts as a job. Aworka offers a six-week free trial and CleanerPlanner a 30-day trial. For a real round, expect to pay from £15.83 a month plus VAT (Squeegee) to £29 a month (CleanerPlanner Pro).
How do window cleaners take direct debit?
Round apps such as CleanerPlanner connect to GoCardless, which collects payments by direct debit after each clean. GoCardless charges 1% plus 20p per collection, capped at £4, with no monthly fee. On a £20 clean that is 40p. CleanerPlanner includes GoCardless on its Pro plan.
How much does window cleaning software cost?
From the pages we checked on 12 October 2026: Squeegee starts from £15.83 a month plus VAT, CleanerPlanner is £19, £29 or £49 a month, ServiceM8 runs from free to £269 a month by job count, and Joblogic starts from £45 per user per month billed annually.
Can window cleaning software text customers the day before?
Yes. Round apps are built around this. CleanerPlanner includes SMS on its Pro plan, and ServiceM8 includes a monthly text allowance on paid plans, with extra texts at 5p each. A day-before text means gates get unlocked and side access is clear, which saves wasted trips.
Is ServiceM8 good for window cleaners?
Only for small rounds. ServiceM8 is good software with unlimited users on paid plans, but it charges by jobs per month and each clean counts. A round of 300 houses on a 4 weekly cycle is about 325 cleans a month, which needs the £119 Premium plan. A round app costs a fraction of that.
