BigChange review (UK, 2026)

BigChange is a Leeds-built field service system that puts your CRM, job scheduling, engineer app and vehicle tracking in one place. We compared its pricing page, published features and user reviews on 12 October 2026 to see which UK firms should shortlist it, and which should look elsewhere.

What does BigChange do well?

Vehicles and jobs on one map

Most job apps show where your engineers are through their phones. BigChange was built around vehicle tracking: live tracking is in every plan, job scheduling links to engineer availability and vehicle location, and you can add AI dashcams, fuel cards and even vans. For a firm with 20 vans, seeing the nearest free engineer to an emergency call-out on one screen is the main reason to buy it.

A genuinely UK business

BigChange is headquartered in Leeds and its pricing page promises 24/7 UK-based support. That matters if your engineers work evenings and weekends. Compare that with Simpro, which is run from Australia.

Everything in one system

CRM, scheduling, the engineer app, quotes, invoices and reporting are all included in every plan, rather than sold as separate modules. BigChange also offers a "Network" feature for managing subcontractors, which helps firms that hand overflow work to trusted partners.

Strong scores from paying customers on Capterra

Capterra UK showed 4.5 from 270 reviews when we checked, with customer support rated 4.6 and ease of use 4.3. That is a large sample for a UK field service product.

New AI tools

BigChange markets a set of AI agents under the name "BigChange Lightning" (JustAsk, FieldReady, JobReady, JobScribe and JobBrief), which aim to cut admin such as writing job notes. These are new, so judge them in a demo rather than on the marketing.

Where does BigChange fall short?

• No published price. You cannot budget until a salesperson calls. The only figures we found are old per-vehicle prices on Capterra UK.
• Contract worries. 31% of BigChange's 147 Trustpilot UK reviews were 1-star when we checked. Recurring complaints were contracts that were hard to scale back, slow fixes from support and features that did not match what was promised in the sales process. Positive reviews praise friendly support and easier scheduling, so experiences are split.
• No trial on the pricing page. You get a demo, not a free account to test yourself.
• No named UK certificates. We found job sheets and compliance notes, but no ready-made EICR or CP12 forms. Domestic gas and electrical firms will want a dedicated certificate app or a system like Powered Now or Tradify.
• Limited accounting choice. Sage and Xero are named. We did not find QuickBooks.
• Stock and assets. Some Trustpilot reviewers said it lacked the serialised stock and asset tracking they needed. If you run planned maintenance on customer assets, compare it with Joblogic.
• Ownership change. Simpro Group bought BigChange in October 2024. That brings investment, but also some uncertainty about how the two products will develop side by side.

How much does BigChange cost?

BigChange's pricing page lists what every plan includes and a set of paid extras, but no figures. Its only number is a vendor claim that customers "save £5 for every £1 spent", which we cannot check.

Capterra UK still shows the per-vehicle prices from the JobWatch days. They are probably out of date, so use them only as a rough sense of scale.

On those older figures, a 5-van firm on JobWatch would pay about £4,197 a year before any extras (£349.75 times 12). VAT treatment is not stated. For comparison, Joblogic publishes a starting price of £45 per user per month billed annually, which is £225 a month for 5 users.

Job scheduling

The scheduler links jobs to engineer availability and vehicle location, so the office can drop an urgent job on the nearest free engineer. Two-way messaging sends automated texts to customers, and BigChange claims 98% of its texts are read (a vendor figure).

CRM

The built-in CRM holds customers, sites, contacts and job history, so sales and service sit in one database. This suits firms with commercial clients who have many sites.

Vehicle tracking

Live tracking is part of every plan. Add-ons include AI dashcams that let you view and download key journey events from the BigChange map, fuel cards and fleet vans. For fleet-heavy firms this can replace a separate tracking supplier.

Mobile app

Engineers use the BigChange JobWatch app (iPhone and iPad, iOS 15 or later). It shows job cards, captures notes and photos, and closes jobs. BigChange can also supply rugged tablets or smartphones with unlimited data as an extra. The App Store page did not show a rating when we checked, and some Trustpilot reviewers reported problems with the tablet app, so ask your engineers to test it in the demo.

Customer updates and portal

We did not find a customer portal named on BigChange's site. Customer updates are handled by automated text messages. If your commercial clients expect to log in and see job reports, ask about this specifically.

Quotes, invoices and reporting

Quotes, invoices and business intelligence dashboards are included in all plans. Invoices can pass to Sage or Xero. One Capterra reviewer found the financial reporting weak, so test the reports you rely on.

What do users say about BigChange?

These are third-party scores, not our own rating. We do not average them.

The gap between Capterra (4.5) and Trustpilot (3.4) is wide. On Trustpilot, 65% of reviews were 5-star and 31% were 1-star, so people tend to love it or regret signing. Trustpilot also noted that BigChange had not recently invited customers to review, so the sample may not be representative. Capterra UK reviewers praised real-time job visibility and support, and criticised occasional outages, setup effort and extras that add to the cost.

Our reading: the product works well for many established customers, but the sales and contract process is where unhappy reviewers felt let down. Ask for two UK reference customers of your size and trade, and call them.
