About Software for Tradespeople
Quick answer
Software for Tradespeople is an independent UK website that compares job management, certificate and invoicing software for tradespeople. We check vendor pricing pages, published features and third-party user ratings, date every figure, and give a clear verdict by trade and team size. We earn money from some affiliate links, which never change our verdicts.
We built Software for Tradespeople because most "best software" lists that tradespeople find are written for American contractors, show prices in dollars and ignore the things UK trades actually need: EICRs, gas safety records, VAT, CIS and Making Tax Digital.
What we do
We compare the software that UK plumbers, electricians, gas engineers, builders, cleaners, landscapers and other trades use to quote, schedule, certify and get paid. For every product we record:
- the UK price as published on the vendor's own pricing page, with the date we checked it;
- whether the price is per user, per account or per job, and whether VAT is added;
- which UK certificates and forms are included;
- which accounting packages it links to, and whether it supports Making Tax Digital;
- ratings from independent platforms (Capterra UK, Trustpilot, the App Store and Google Play), always named and dated.
Then we say plainly who each product suits and who should skip it. Read how we review software for the full method.
Who writes the site
Pages are written and checked by the Software for Tradespeople Editorial Team. We are researchers and writers, not tradespeople, so we do not claim on-site experience. We rely on primary sources (vendor pricing and help pages, GOV.UK, HSE and the IET wiring regulations guidance) and on large samples of independent user reviews. Every page lists its sources at the bottom.
How the site is funded
Some links on this site are affiliate links, marked "(Ad)". If you sign up through one, we earn a commission from the software company at no extra cost to you. We rank products by our published criteria, not by commission, and we review products that pay us nothing (several of our recommendations have no affiliate programme at all). See our affiliate disclosure for details.
Corrections and updates
Software prices change often. We re-check key pricing pages at least every quarter and show the date on every page. If you spot something out of date, please tell us and we will check and correct it.
