Is Tradify or Fergus cheaper?

Tradify's pricing is the easier to understand: £34 (Lite), £37 (Pro) or £44 (Plus) per user per month, with no contract. Multiply by your team size and you have your bill.

Fergus shows Essentials "from £39" and Pro "from £45" a month. Its pricing page does not say whether that base price covers one user or more, and it sells extra timesheet users from £12 a month each and contractor users at £2 per user per day. Larger firms (10+ staff) go to an Enterprise plan with no published price. So for a team we cannot give a reliable Fergus figure, and you should ask for a written quote.

The 90% offer

When we checked, Fergus's UK pricing page showed "Limited Offer: Get 90% off til December", bringing Essentials to £3.90 and Pro to £4.50 a month. The page did not state the year, the exact terms or the price after the offer ends. It is a good way to try Fergus cheaply, but compare the full prices when you decide.

Questions to ask Fergus before you buy

  • Is the £39 or £45 price for one user, or does it cover my whole office team?
  • What will I pay per month when the 90% offer ends, and when exactly does it end?
  • How many timesheet and contractor users will my team need, and at what cost?
  • Do prices include VAT?

Get the answers in writing. Fergus has no lock-in contract, so the risk is low, but you should still know your real monthly bill before you move your jobs and customers across.

Verdict: Tradify is cheaper for a sole trader on Pro (£37 against £45) and is easier to budget for a team. Fergus's promo makes it cheaper in the short term.

Which is better for quoting, job costing and invoicing?

  • Tradify: quotes, invoices and card payments on every plan. Pro adds online quote acceptance, progress invoicing and automatic reminders. Plus adds bulk invoicing and purchase orders. Inventory is basic: kit bundles and price list imports only.
  • Fergus: quoting, price books, job cards and materials on both plans. Pro adds job phases, tasks, purchase orders, tiered pricing, full reporting and automatic supplier integrations. Fergus also uses AI to read supplier invoices from email. Fergus Pay offers tap to pay on iPhone or Android, direct debit, Clearpay, card and Apple Pay.

For a plumber or builder, the job costing loop matters: order materials on a purchase order, track the materials cost against the job, and see what the job cost against what you charged. Fergus describes exactly that on its own information page. Tradify can do parts of it, but purchase orders need the top Plus plan.

Verdict: Fergus, clearly, for job costing and supplier paperwork. Tradify for straightforward quote-to-invoice work.

Which has the better scheduling and mobile app?

  • Tradify: scheduling with Google Calendar sync on all plans, real-time staff locations on a map, subcontractor scheduling and recurring jobs from Pro. The iPhone app scored 4.8 from 2.7k ratings on the UK App Store.
  • Fergus: calendar, GPS tracking, timesheets and recurring jobs on both plans, with checklists, enquiry management and hazards and safe work method statements on Pro. The Fergus Go iPhone app scored 4.7 from 133 ratings. Fergus Go Assistant lets engineers use voice or text on site.

Verdict: close. Both apps are well rated. Fergus includes timesheets and GPS on its entry plan, while Tradify keeps timesheets for Pro.

Which is better for UK certificates?

  • Tradify includes compliance certificates from its £37 Pro plan. Its UK pages name EICRs and electrical safety certificates, plus a long gas and oil list: landlord and homeowner gas safety records, service and maintenance records, warning notices, breakdown, commissioning, unvented hot water, test and purge and oil CD/10, 11, 12 and 14 and TI/133D forms.
  • Fergus says EICRs and gas safety certificates are stored with the job, and its pricing page says "certificates are free". Forms are on Pro. We could not find a full list of certificate templates on the pages we checked, so ask Fergus to show you the exact forms during your trial.

UK rule reminder: landlords need a gas safety check every year by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and in England rented homes need an electrical inspection at least every 5 years. If certificates are a big part of your work, check that the exact form you issue is built in.

Verdict: Tradify, because its certificate range is clearly published.

Which works better with UK accounting software?

  • Tradify connects to Xero, Sage and QuickBooks Online on every plan.
  • Fergus syncs contacts, invoices and payments with Xero and QuickBooks, and lists MYOB and Zapier. We found no Sage link.

Neither mentions Making Tax Digital on its pages, so your accounts package handles that.

Verdict: a draw for Xero and QuickBooks users. Tradify if you use Sage.

What about AI features?

  • Tradify keeps its AI tools for the £44 Plus plan: SmartRead captures supplier bills with AI, and SmartWrite helps write job descriptions.
  • Fergus has "Fergus AI", including Fergus Assistant on the desktop, Fergus Go Assistant for voice or text on site, and AI reading of supplier invoices from email. Which plan each feature needs was not clear on the pages we checked.

Both use AI for the same dull job: getting supplier bills into the system without typing. For a firm that buys a lot of materials, that is a real time saver. Fergus pairs it with purchase orders and automatic supplier integrations on Pro, which is where it is strongest.

Verdict: Fergus for supplier paperwork. Neither should be chosen for AI alone.

Which suits your team size and support needs?

Fergus says most of its UK customers run crews of 1 to 20, and it moves firms with 10 or more staff to its Enterprise plan. Its Essentials plan comes with email and chat support only; phone support is on Pro. Its UK office is at 29 John Dalton Street, Manchester, with a freephone number, and it claims more than 25,000 tradespeople "from Glasgow to London".

Tradify says it serves "sole traders to larger teams" with no set limit. It offers free one-to-one training and phone support, has a UK office at 8 Devonshire Square in London, and claims more than 55,000 tradespeople worldwide. Neither company publishes UK support hours.

Verdict: Tradify if you want free one-to-one training and a UK phone line from day one. Fergus Pro if you want phone support plus the deeper costing tools. For teams of 10 or more, Tradify's per-user bill is easy to predict, while Fergus needs an Enterprise quote.

Tradify or Fergus: our final verdict

Our verdict

Tradify is our best overall pick for small UK trade teams (1 to 10 people). It wins on simple per-user pricing, a published certificate range from Pro, Sage support and a much larger Trustpilot record (4.8 from 610). Downsides: per-user pricing adds up for bigger teams, inventory is basic and AI features are on Plus only.

Fergus is our best pick for job costing and purchase orders. Plumbers and builders who need to know the margin on every job should trial it. Downsides: a small Trustpilot sample (3.8 from 14), unclear per-user pricing and a 90% "til December" promo with unclear terms.
