Powered Now review (UK, 2026)
Quick answer
Powered Now is a UK-built job management app costing £28 to £40 per user per month ex VAT, with nearly 100 trade forms and HMRC-recognised Making Tax Digital. It is our pick for UK certificates and MTD on a budget. Certificates need the £32 Professional plan, and its App Store score (4.1) trails rivals.

Powered Now is a British job management app for tradespeople that bundles quotes, invoices, a diary, nearly 100 trade certificates and Making Tax Digital into one subscription. We compared its published pricing, features and user reviews, checking every page on 12 October 2026, to see who it really suits.
Who should buy Powered Now, and who should not?
Our verdict
Powered Now is our best pick for UK certificates and Making Tax Digital on a budget. Buy it if you are a gas engineer, plumber or electrician who issues certificates, wants HMRC-ready tax records in the same app and would rather pay £32 than £37 or more per user. Skip it if you never issue certificates (the cheaper apps and the £28 Business plan will do), or if you run a heating firm with 6 or more engineers, service contracts and stock to manage.
Powered Now does not have the polish or the app store scores of Tradify, our pick for the best job management software for most small UK trade teams. But it is cheaper per user, it is built in the UK for UK rules, and of the six main apps we compared, it is the only one where we found HMRC recognition named for both MTD for VAT and MTD for Income Tax.

What does Powered Now do well?
UK certificates at a low per-user price
Powered Now says it offers nearly 100 trade forms. Its gas page lists the CP12 landlord gas safety record, breakdown and service records, service checklists, warning notices, test and purge, central heating commissioning, power flush, catering, unvented hot water, non-domestic safety reports and bonding notices. Electrical certificates and risk assessments are covered too. Each certificate can trigger an automatic annual reminder, which turns this year's CP12 into next year's booking.
At £32 per user per month ex VAT, Professional was the lowest list price we found for named gas and electrical certificates inside a full job management app, among the six main apps we compared. Tradify's certificates start on its £37 Pro plan.
Making Tax Digital in the same app
Making Tax Digital (MTD) is HMRC's rule that you keep digital records and send updates through approved software. Powered Now says it is recognised by HMRC for both MTD for VAT and MTD for Income Tax. That matters now: MTD for Income Tax became compulsory on 6 April 2026 for sole traders and landlords with qualifying income over £50,000, and the threshold falls to £30,000 from April 2027.
Real desktop apps
Most trade apps give you a phone app plus a web page for the office. Powered Now has proper apps for Mac and Windows as well as iPhone and Android, and the vendor says it works offline. If you write quotes on a laptop in the van or in a loft with no signal, that is useful.
Purchase orders on every plan
Supplier invoices and purchase orders are listed on the entry Business plan. Tradify keeps purchase orders for its top Plus plan, so this is a genuine plus for a sole trader who buys a lot of materials.
A strong Trustpilot record
Trustpilot UK showed 4.7 from 564 reviews when we checked. That is a large sample for a UK trade app and close to Tradify's 4.8 from 610.
Where does Powered Now fall short?
- Certificates are not on the cheapest plan. The £28 Business plan has no certificates. A gas engineer must start at £32 per user.
- The app store score is lower. The iPhone app was rated 4.1 from 243 ratings on the UK App Store. Tradify scored 4.8 from 2.7k and ServiceM8 4.5 from 1.2k. A lower phone app score can be a sign that engineers find the app harder to use on site, so test it on your own phones.
- The best office tools are on Premium. Drag-and-drop scheduling, a customer portal, automatic quote and invoice chasing, appointment reminders and the AI receipt scanner all need the £40 Premium plan.
- Xero and QuickBooks are not on Business. If your accountant uses Xero, budget for Professional.
- No Sage or FreeAgent link found. Neither is mentioned on Powered Now's pages. Tradify includes Sage on every plan.
- Some details are unpublished. Recurring jobs, stock control and support hours are not mentioned on the pages we checked, so ask before you buy if you need them.
- Vendor claims run ahead of the evidence. Powered Now's own page claims "1,200+" Trustpilot reviews, but Trustpilot UK showed 564 when we checked. We use Trustpilot's own figure.
How much does Powered Now cost per month?
Powered Now has three plans. All prices exclude VAT, which is added at checkout. Paying yearly gives two months free.
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | Users | Key extras |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Business | £28 | £280 (saves £56) | 1 user | Quotes, invoices with payment links, diary, expenses, supplier invoices and purchase orders, MTD, free "Here Is My Work" website |
| Professional (most popular) | £32 per user | £320 per user (saves £64) | Per user | Adds certificates and custom forms, VAT return submission, Xero and QuickBooks, unlimited text and email, staff location and time tracking, team chat, job routing, What3Words |
| Premium | £40 per user | £400 per user (saves £80) | Per user | Adds customer portal, drag-and-drop scheduling, AI receipt scanner, AI text writing, automatic quote and invoice chasing, appointment reminders, drawings |
Worked examples
| Team | Plan | Monthly | Yearly (annual billing) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sole trader, no certificates | Business | £28 | £280 |
| Sole gas engineer | Professional | £32 | £320 |
| 3-person plumbing team | Professional | £96 | £960 |
| 3-person team wanting office automation | Premium | £120 | £1,200 |
| 8-person heating firm | Professional | £256 | £2,560 |
For comparison, three users on Tradify's Pro plan cost £111 a month (VAT treatment not stated on Tradify's pricing page). Powered Now Professional is £15 a month cheaper for that team before VAT, and annual billing widens the gap.
Watch out for one thing: if you are VAT-registered you can usually reclaim the VAT, so ex VAT prices are your real cost. If you are not VAT-registered, add 20% to every Powered Now figure above.
Powered Now features in detail
Certificates and forms
The certificate library is the main reason to buy. Gas engineers get the core Gas Safe paperwork: the CP12 landlord record, service and breakdown records, warning notices, commissioning, test and purge, catering, CP2 leisure, plant commissioning and unvented hot water. Electricians get electrical certificates, and every trade gets risk assessments and custom forms. Our comparison of gas certificate apps sets Powered Now against Gas Engineer Software, Gas Certificate App and iCertifi, and our guide to electrical certificate software covers EICR tools in depth.
UK rule reminder: landlords need a gas safety check every year by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and the record must go to existing tenants within 28 days. HSE allows digital records if they are printable, secure and identify the engineer. In England, rented homes need an electrical inspection at least every 5 years. Automatic annual reminders help you win this repeat work.
Making Tax Digital for VAT and Income Tax
MTD is built into every plan, and VAT return submission is listed from Professional. Powered Now says it is recognised by HMRC for MTD for VAT and MTD for Income Tax. For a sole trader, that can mean one app for jobs, expenses and quarterly tax updates. If you already use an accountant with Xero or QuickBooks, you can link those instead from Professional. Our guide to accounting software for tradesmen explains when a separate accounts package is worth it.
Windows and Mac apps, and offline working
Powered Now runs on iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows. The vendor says it works offline, so you can fill in a certificate in a basement and it syncs later.
Quotes, invoices and payments
Every plan includes quotes and estimates, and invoices with payment links. SumUp handles card payments on site. Premium adds automatic chasing of unpaid quotes and invoices, which on its own can pay for the £8 per user step up from Professional if you have slow payers.
Team tools
Professional adds live GPS tracking of team members, time tracking, team chat, job routing and What3Words for hard-to-find sites. Premium adds drag-and-drop scheduling and appointment reminders to customers.
AI features
Premium includes an AI receipt scanner and AI text writing. Powered Now also sells an "A.I. Receptionist" add-on that answers calls and books work. Its price is not shown on the pricing page.
What do users say about Powered Now?
These are third-party scores, not our own rating. We do not average them.
| Platform | Score | Reviews | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Capterra UK | 4.7 out of 5 | 137 | 12 Oct 2026 |
| Trustpilot UK | 4.7 out of 5 | 564 | 12 Oct 2026 |
| G2 | 4.9 out of 5 | 21 | 12 Oct 2026 |
| App Store (UK) | 4.1 out of 5 | 243 ratings | 12 Oct 2026 |
| Google Play | Not confirmed | n/a | We could not confirm a score |
The pattern is clear. Business owners who review on Capterra and Trustpilot rate it highly, which fits the certificates, MTD and UK support. The lower App Store score suggests the phone app is less loved by the people using it on site. If your engineers live in the app all day, run the 14-day trial on their own phones before you commit.

Gas certificates first
Gas Engineer Software
Starter from £18 a month (annual) or £19 (monthly), ex VAT
If certificates are 90% of your work and job management is secondary, a dedicated gas app is cheaper. Gas Engineer Software covers CP12, boiler service records and heat pump certificates, with a 14-day trial.
Simple quoting for builders
YourTradebase
£29 a month plus £15 per extra user, subject to VAT
A UK app focused on quotes, job sheets and invoices for small trade firms. Cheaper than Powered Now for teams of 3 or more, but we found no certificates or MTD on its pages. Trial is 30 days.
Larger heating firms should read our Commusoft review instead, and anyone weighing up the two front runners should read our head-to-head of Tradify and Powered Now.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Powered Now cost per month?
When we checked on 12 October 2026, Powered Now cost £28 a month for the one-user Business plan, £32 per user a month for Professional and £40 per user a month for Premium. All prices exclude VAT, which is added at checkout. Paying yearly gives two months free: £280, £320 or £400 per user.
Is Powered Now worth it?
For a UK gas engineer, electrician or plumber who wants certificates and Making Tax Digital in one app at a low price, yes. The Professional plan at £32 per user ex VAT covers both. It is less worth it if you only need quotes and invoices, or if you run a large heating firm that needs service contracts and stock control.
Does Powered Now do gas safety certificates (CP12)?
Yes. Powered Now lists CP12 landlord gas safety records, service records, warning notices, test and purge, commissioning forms and more, with automatic annual reminders. Certificates are not on the £28 Business plan. You need Professional (£32 per user per month ex VAT) or Premium.
Is Powered Now recognised by HMRC for Making Tax Digital?
Powered Now says it is recognised by HMRC for MTD for VAT and MTD for Income Tax. MTD for Income Tax started on 6 April 2026 for sole traders and landlords with qualifying income over £50,000, and drops to over £30,000 from 6 April 2027.
Does Powered Now work on a computer?
Yes. Powered Now has apps for iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows, and the vendor says it works offline. That makes it one of the few trade job apps with proper desktop apps rather than a browser-only office screen.
Is Powered Now a UK company?
Yes. Powered Now states its headquarters are in the United Kingdom, and Capterra UK lists East Cowes as its location. It was founded in 2013 and offers a freephone support number (0800 368 8153), email and in-app chat. Support hours are not published.
Does Powered Now have a free trial?
Yes, a 14-day free trial with no card needed. Powered Now also lists a one-to-one setup and training session as a feature. We found no setup fee on the pricing page.
