Tradecert is a UK-built app that does one job: electrical certificates, with AI that reads a photo of the board to fill in circuit details. We compared its published pricing, certificate list and user reviews on 12 October 2026 to see who it suits, and where it stops.

Who should buy Tradecert, and who should not?

Our verdict

Tradecert is a strong choice for electricians who do a lot of EICRs, especially small teams with an office person. It is cloud based, works on iPhone, Android and the web, already defaults to BS 7671 Amendment 4, charges just £7 for each extra engineer and lets office staff in free. Its Trustpilot score (4.9 from 197 reviews) is among the best we have seen for a certificate app. Skip it if you are a sole trader who only writes a few certificates a year (iCertifi's £125.99 a year is cheaper), or if you want one system for quotes, jobs, invoices and certificates. For that, look at Tradify Pro or Powered Now Professional in our electrician software guide.

What does Tradecert do well?

AI that cuts EICR time

Tradecert's headline feature is reading a photo of the consumer unit and filling in the circuit schedule. It also suggests BS 7671-referenced observation wording, flags impossible values and has a "Validate" check for missed fields. Several Trustpilot reviewers single out the AI as the biggest time saver, with one saying it halved their EICR time.

Works on every device

iPhone, iPad, Android and any computer through a browser all share one login, and the app works offline on site. That is a real advantage over Apple-only tools if your team uses mixed phones.

Cheap for teams

Extra engineers cost £7 a month and office users are free. Two people can also work on the same certificate live, which helps when one person tests and another writes up.

Up to date with Amendment 4

BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 was published on 15 April 2026, and NICEIC Online moves to A4-only forms from 15 October 2026. Tradecert's App Store notes say its electrical certificates now default to A4, so you are not waiting for an update. Our guide to BS 7671 Amendment 4 explains what changed.

Outstanding reviews

Trustpilot UK showed 4.9 from 197 reviews and the UK App Store 4.9 from 87 ratings when we checked.

Where does Tradecert fall short?

  • Certificates only. There are no quotes, invoices, scheduling or accounting links. Most electricians will pay for a second app as well.
  • Dearer than iCertifi for one person. £18 a month plus VAT is about £259.20 a year, against £125.99 a year (including VAT) for iCertifi's 12-month unlimited plan.
  • AI tokens run out. The paid plan includes 250 AI tokens a month. Busy EICR teams may need top-ups, and we did not find top-up prices on the pages we checked.
  • Pricing page hard to read. The full tier detail was not readable on the pricing page when we checked. The £18, £7 and free office user figures come from the homepage.
  • Mixed promotions. We saw a "first month free" code and a separate "3 months free" switching offer. Check which one applies to you.
  • No Capterra UK reviews found. Its strong scores come from Trustpilot and the App Store only.

How much does Tradecert cost?

Tradecert features in detail

EIC, EICR and Minor Works

The core BS 7671 forms are all there: the Electrical Installation Certificate, the Electrical Installation Condition Report and the Minor Works certificate. Built-in calculations and 18th Edition validation check your entries. Our EICR guide explains what each part of the report means.

Beyond the wiring regs

Tradecert lists 4 EV charger certificates, 15 fire alarm forms, 4 emergency lighting forms, Solar PV, PAT, danger notices and a domestic ventilation installation and commissioning certificate (added in the latest release). That covers most small electrical contractors' paperwork in one app.

Devices and offline use

The app needs iOS or iPadOS 16.4 or later on Apple devices, and runs on Android and in a web browser. Work offline in a loft or basement and it syncs when you get signal.

Teams and branding

Live multi-user editing, roles and permissions, company branding and automatic serial numbers are included. You can also import past PDFs and test results.

Scheme bodies

Tradecert says it is used by NICEIC, NAPIT, SELECT and Blue Flame registered professionals. Note that NICEIC also runs its own online certification system, so NICEIC members should compare both.

98% of Trustpilot reviews were 5-star when we checked. Reviewers praise ease of use, the AI tools and fast support, with some saying questions were answered within the hour. Frequently asked questions

How much is Tradecert per month?

Tradecert's site lists £18 a month ex VAT for the paid plan, which is £21.60 including VAT. Each additional engineer costs £7, office users are free, and there is no contract. The plan includes 250 AI tokens a month, with top-ups available. Teams of 10 or more engineers can ask for a custom plan.

Is Tradecert worth it?

For most domestic and small commercial electricians, yes. It covers the main BS 7671 certificates plus fire alarm, emergency lighting, EV and PAT, works on iPhone, Android and the web, and lets two people edit the same certificate. It is not a job management system, so you will still need separate software for quotes and invoices.

Does Tradecert support BS 7671 Amendment 4?

Yes. Tradecert's certificate pages refer to BS 7671 A4:2026, and the latest App Store release notes say electrical certificates now default to Amendment 4. A4:2026 was published on 15 April 2026, and NICEIC Online offers only A4 forms from 15 October 2026.

Does Tradecert work on Android?

Yes. Tradecert runs on iPhone, iPad, Android and any computer through a web browser, all under one login. It works offline on site and syncs when you are back online. This is one of its main differences from iCertifi's main app, which is Apple-focused.

Is there a free version of Tradecert?

There is a free tier with 200 AI tokens, but its PDFs carry a watermark, so it is only really useful for trying the app. When we checked, new users could get the first month free with the code WELCOME, and a separate switching offer advertised 3 months free. Both are subject to Tradecert's terms.

Tradecert vs iCertifi: which is cheaper?

For a sole electrician, iCertifi is cheaper on paper: its 12-month unlimited plan is £125.99 including VAT, against about £259.20 a year including VAT for Tradecert at £18 a month plus VAT. Tradecert becomes better value for teams, because each extra engineer costs £7 and office users are free, and it works on Android and the web.
